Now here’s a subject that bothers me to the bone. Property tax. I don’t mind paying income tax. I don’t mind paying sales tax. But I do to a high degree despise paying property tax. Why? Because this is the one tax that requires a man to work a job that pays money. Don’t think for a moment that I’m a lazy bum who simply doesn’t want to work. I don’t mind working. In fact I enjoy it. The problem I have is that a man can be self-sufficient in every way yet he still would be required to pay property tax on whatever property he owns. If he doesn’t pay that tax, as I understand, the property will be taken and sold.

If I am not mistaken our constitution protects our right to own property does it not? If so, then why can the government take, or should I say steal, our property for not paying a seemingly unconstitutional tax on it? I would really like someone to shed some light on this for me because I do not understand it.

This is the one tax imposed on the people which makes slaves of the people for corporate capitalist America. A man can “own” his property, plow his fields, provide for his family all on his own yet he would still need to make money to pay the property tax on “his” property. I realize a man can sell goods that he produces and possibly make enough money to pay that tax, but that is completely dependent on where his property is located and what it is valued at and what sort of market he had to sell his goods. 10 acres in the middle of rural America has a different “value” than 10 acres on the coast of Florida. Not to mention it may be hard to sell goods if you live in a remote area away from busy roadways and cities.

Perhaps if some of you self-sufficient folks are reading this you will post some thoughts on property taxes and how you deal with them. Please do.
