The roof was getting worse and worse. Finally, this past Sunday I went and bought a new tarp, a tube full of bungee cords, and some eyescrews. I removed the old tarp from the roof, and put three eyescrews in beneath the eave of the main roof and then strapped the new tarp down securely to the eyescrews on the house side and attached the other side to the chain link fence also with bungees. It was raining almost non-stop for better than a week and now that I have replaced the tarp it hasn’t rained a drop.

I am hoping this will work well enough for the roof to dry out some so I can eventually begin working on the repair. The ceiling is starting to fall in! An area of sheet-rock about 18″ in diameter was on the floor Saturday morning after rain Friday evening. I notice there is a layer of plywood in the ceiling as well which I found a little strange. I figured the sheet-rock would be attached directly to the joists/beams, but I guess not.

Man I can’t wait for this project to get going. Then we’ll be able to use our dining room once again.

On a side note, I just realized I have been confusing my categories with tags. Not sure if that’s a bad thing or not…
